Even though political betting is not offered at any regulated and legal sportsbooks in the USA, Europe, Australia and the U.K. currently have robust betting markets. According to the Telegraph, Joe Biden is the current favourite at the Bookies for the 2020 USA Presidential Election followed by President Donald Trump.

While his edge is narrowing, many people placing bets believe that the betting odds offer more accurate predictions than the actual polls as this is due to people putting their money on the line.

According to online operators, in the race for the 2020 Presidential Election, In July 2019 Donald Trump was the favourite, but Biden had become the favourite by July 2020 and is still the current favourite, as mentioned above.

Current Betting Odds for the Candidates

Each Bookie has its own odds which are literally changing by the minute, in the lead up to the election. Even mobile betting has drawn a big interest in the election. As of the 28 October 2020 the average odds were the following:

Odds for the Next President

Donald Trump – 15/8

Joe Biden – 10/19

Kamala Harris – 200/1

Mike Pence – 500/1

Kanye West – 1000/1

Odds for the Political Party Winner

Democrats – 10/19

Republicans – 8/5

Independent Candidate / Any other Party – 100/1

While bookmakers are always very active in the lead up to elections in most major countries, anything can happen and even the favourites can end up losing.

We saw this in the 2016 USA elections when Hillary Clinton was tipped as the favourite, and the polls had her tipped for a landslide victory.

In the end, as we all know, Donald Trump won to become the 45th President of the United States and many people were left wondering how the final results could have changed so drastically during the counting process.

This just proves that nothing is certain until the final votes have been counted, especially when it comes to Politics, and even more so when it comes to the 2020 Elections for the United States of America.
